The Kingdom of Zulu

O! Let the trumpets sound a resounding blast in the kingdom of Zulu,
like an ocean's tidal wave rises and falls and covers the land!
From the days as slaves to the days as longshoremen,
where great men cast down their sorrows,
as they trust in god for all their tomorrows.
O! Let the lions roar in this house,
the house of Zulu where dark men gather and every man carrying his own weight blacken their faces,
fashions a mask to give face to the facelessness of struggles past.
O! let us look back as reflection, rejoicing in the procession of life.
The syncopated rhythm of dreams,
the hearing of drums,
the lines,
shapes,
forms
and colors of things past and of things yet to come.

The Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club, Inc. proudly continues its association with internationally renowned artist Richard C.Thomas and Visual Jazz Publishing. Thomas has been commissioned to produce a series of five commemorative posters that will portray the spirit and essence of Zulu.
